Co-working spaces are great for staying focused, but if you’re not careful, you can still get distracted even in a dedicated space for work. It’s easier than ever to get lost in your phone or get caught up in small talk with another member. We’ve compiled a few tips that are great for staying focused no matter where you are.
Turn Off Notifications
It’s no secret that our phones are incredibly distracting. While they can be great tools for work, more often than not, they end up acting as a black hole that sucks all your time away. A simple fix for this is to turn off notifications and place your phone somewhere out of sight. It’s a good idea to let friends and family know that you won’t be reachable for some time too.
Block Out Your Calendar
Attempting to work without a game plan can be detrimental to your productivity. A simple but effective method for staying on track is adding each task that you need to complete to your calendar. Outlining each task not only serves as a good refresher of what you need to complete, but it also helps you establish what order you need to complete each item. You don’t have to get the timing for each block right. The important thing is to get it on your calendar and adjust as needed.
Look for Opportune Times
Collaboration is one of the best parts of becoming a member of a co-working space. But there is a time and a place for everything, and if you need to focus, it’s best to know what times your co-working space will be quietest. That may be after hours or early in the morning. If you’re not sure, reach out to a staff member, and they can let you know how busy it is.
Use a Productivity Software
One of the best ways to make sure all your tasks are organized and accounted for is to use a productivity software. Using tools like Notion or Asana will help you visually break down everything you need to accomplish. From small tasks to more robust projects, you will be able to track everything you need to get done.
